Columbus will take proposals through May 8th to redevelop the site of the Municipal Light Plant at 555 W Nationwide Blvd. , adjacent to the Arena District, and originally opened in 1904. The hopes are to restore and save the original power plant building and redevelop the 1.2 acres into multifamily housing or condos.  I imagine that there also could be a component of Columbus commercial retail real estate for lease.

““We don’t need the buildings and some of the operations,” said Steve Schoeny, director of the city Department of Development.”

“We felt the timing was right,” Schoeny said. “The location is very strong, and (the old power plant) is a unique structure we’d like to see saved.”

True, it’s a relatively small site, but I expect some really interesting ideas regarding proposals to save and integrate the original structure into a mixed use Columbus commercial real estate for sale and lease site.

As always, if you’re interested in responding to the request for proposal, contact your Columbus commercial real estate broker for additional details or Steve Schoeny with teh Columbus Department of Development
