Columbus and Central Ohio Home Sales – April 2013

Home sales hit a record high last month with 2,390 closing versus the previous high of 2,286 in April 2004. This is a 30 percent increase from April last year.

Year to date, prices are up 1.5 percent from last year with April at $163,084 up from $149,477 in January.

”Even with more homes being sold and sale prices up, the average time on the market continues to fall: down over 20 percent from a year ago”, said Chris Pedon, 2013 president of the Columbus Board of REALTORS®. “With such excellent market conditions, we’re seeing inventory move quickly.”

New listing are up almost 9 percent to 3,965 in the month of April. Every aspect of the Central market has improved and we should see a very strong 2013
