Google confirmed the development and construction of a 275,000 square foot, $600 million data center to be built on 440 acres in the New Albany International Business Park.  Google affiliate, Montauk Innovations LLC, is the purchasing entity.

This is part of $13 billion Google is investing in 14 states this year.  This includes plans to hire ten of thousands of employees.  Locally, the project will create $2.5mil in payroll and 50 permanent jobs at an average of $50,000 per year, per job.   Plain Local School district will share $1 mil in new annual revenue.

Now, Google, Facebook and Amazon will all share a presence in New Albany.  This means more single family and multifamily residential, retail, medical, etc.
